Scotland Men's Under 19s World Cup campaign came to a disappointing end as they suffered a seven-wicket defeat to the USA.

Winning the toss and batting first, Scotland posted 236, but let slip an excellent position when they were 164-2, with Theo Robinson (83) and Manu Saraswat (41) at the crease - Robinson's departure sparking a loss of eight wickets for just 72 runs.

In response, Adnit Jhamb's sparkling 116 from just 93 deliveries drove the USA to victory - his 129 run partnership with Utkarsh Srivastava (52) taking the game away from Scotland.

Ollie Jones (2-46) and Manu Saraswat (1-46) both struck for Scotland, but Jhamb would see his side over the line with back-to-back boundaries in the 39th over.

Scotland Captain Thomas Knight said: "I think we probably thought we were 50 or 60 short, we were certainly in a good position to kick on, and Theo Robinson up top was excellent and put us in a position to go and get 280 plus.

"We definitely thought we could bowl at that, restrict them a little bit and make it tighter than it was in the end, but it wasn't to be. We just lost our lines a little bit and offered them a bit of width, and on a nice wicket to good players they're going to punish you."
