These programmes are structured to give children the chance to not only play cricket, but grow a love for the sport, learn vital life skills, improve wider wellbeing and fulfil their potential.
Cricket in Schools
Cricket Scotland and Chance to Shine collaborate to deliver coaching and competitions in state primary schools, as well as helping young people to continue playing out of school in their community, whilst our coaches empower teachers to deliver cricket sessions themselves.
Typically over a half-term, our qualified coaches teach pupils key cricket, physical and life skills. Each session is adapted to the needs of the children to help them become confident cricketers. In many cases pupils are being introduced to the game for the first time.

Current Projects
Cricket Scotland has successfully delivered the whole school programme in eleven schools in Edinburgh and ten schools in Aberdeen in the past few years.
In addition to these schools, we are now looking to expand these programmes to more schools in Glasgow and Dundee over the next couple of years.

Street Clubs
Cricket Scotland runs cricket clubs for young people in underserved areas according to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) and other key data. These street clubs run weekly, all year round and are free for young people to attend – they are a place where participants can call their own.
Clubs are placed in easy-to-access locations, often within walking distance of participants. Coaches place a strong emphasis on life skills as well as a passion for cricket.
