Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
Cricket Scotland stands firm in its belief that embracing equality, diversity and inclusion is essential for the growth of cricket as a sport. Together with our partners and all communities, we are committed to making cricket a game accessible for everyone regardless of background, identity, or ability.
Our commitment to equality is rooted in our corporate values to be bold and brave in our commitment to EDI; proud to be diverse, committed to being inclusive and welcoming; we are transparent and accountable to ourselves and our sport; we ensure people are central to everything we do; and always remember cricket should be enjoyable for all. These values are actively reflected in the organisations strategic pillars and priorities to embed a culture of equality.
Cricket Scotland, whilst not a public authority, recognises its role as a [regulatory] body within the sport and is committed to promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all aspect of its operations. The organisation adheres to the principles outlined in the Equality Act 2010, which aims to:
In line with this commitment, Cricket Scotland has implemented various polices and initiatives designed to ensure that everyone involved in cricket - players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators, can participate fully without facing discrimination. This includes training programs aimed at raising awareness about equality issues within the sport and ensuring that all members of the cricket community understand their responsibilities under the law.
The organisation is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and everyone feels valued. By fostering an atmosphere of respect and inclusion, it enhances the overall experience for all participants in cricket across Scotland.
Our EDI Strategy
Cricket Scotland's EDI Strategy, published in November 2024, aligns with the governing body's corporate Strategy for 2024-2028 and related sub-strategies, setting specific objectives and measures to ensure equal opportunity, access, and a sense of belonging for all demographics.
By promoting unity and belonging, our EDI Strategy aims to transform the cricketing community in Scotland, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to excel and be part of our cricketing future.

EDI ACTION PLAN
Cricket Scotland's EDI Action Plan builds upon the foundation laid by the consolidation of Cricket Scotland’s existing EDI Strategy and Anti-Racism Delivery Plan, meeting the overarching goal and ensuring a unified and impactful approach to addressing systemic inequalities, whilst promoting diversity at all levels and developing positive sustainable change.
It is designed to be a living document, detailing specific actions and initiatives to achieve the strategic goals. It will be regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the evolving needs of the Scottish cricketing community and the latest best practices in EDI.
Cricket Scotland is committed to becoming the most diverse sport in Scotland. A key part to enabling that is an on-going commitment throughout cricket to be welcoming to all groups and sections within our society.
Our vision is to be an inclusive leader in cricket governance, fostering a vibrant community where equality, diversity, and inclusion are fundamental. We aim to champion fairness, celebrate community diversity, and empower all stakeholders through cricket’s transformative power.
By ensuring equal opportunities for everyone - regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability, or socio-economic background - we strive to create a sport that reflects and enhances the diverse society in which we live. This vision is supported by transparent tracking, continuous improvement, and active community feedback.
Cricket Scotland acknowledges the societal issues within our sport, including racism and sexism, highlighted by recent inquiries and reports. These findings have driven the need for structural change and a renewed focus on EDI. Our strategy aims to address these challenges and build a more inclusive future, reflecting our commitment to respect, integrity, and unity.
