SCOTLAND SQUADS NAMED FOR HOME SERIES AGAINST NETHERLANDS AND NEPAL

SCOTLAND SQUADS NAMED FOR HOME SERIES AGAINST NETHERLANDS AND NEPAL

Two Scotland Men’s squads have been named for the forthcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series and Men’s T20 International Tri-Series, taking place in Dundee and Glasgow.

Scotland will play four ODIs against Netherlands and Nepal at Forfarshire CC, Dundee, before taking on the same two nations in four T20Is at Clydesdale CC, Glasgow, as preparations for July’s T20 World Cup Qualifier ramp up.

Mackenzie Jones, a member of the Scotland squad at the 2024 U19 World Cup, receives a first senior international call-up, whilst Liam Naylor returns to the squad for the first time since 2023.

There are also recalls for left-arm spinner Olly Davidson (CWCL2) and pace bowler Gavin Main (T20Is).

Steve Snell, Cricket Scotland Head of Performance, said:

“We’re really looking forward to being back in Scotland for an important month for us across both formats, and playing in front of a home crowd is always a great experience with the fantastic support we receive.

“We had a really good finish to the Netherlands tour after what had been an up and down series. The players showed a lot of character to put in the performances that they did in those final two games and come into this series at Forfarshire with some real momentum.

“The T20 series at Clydesdale will be good preparation for us ahead of the qualifier in the Netherlands in July. We don’t get a lot of time to come together and play T20 cricket, so it will be valuable to have four high-intensity, good quality fixtures against Nepal and the Netherlands.

“Mackenzie Jones has been called up for the first time, and it is testament to our pathways system and the work that Gordon and his team are doing that players are transitioning from the under 19s to the senior squad.

“Mackenzie has really caught the eye in terms of hitting the pitch hard from a good height, so we’re really excited to see what we can do, and this is a really good opportunity to expose him to a new environment.”

“It’s great to see Liam Naylor back in the squad, he’s forced his way in through the weight of runs he’s scored over a sustained period of time on a consistent basis, and the way he’s got those runs as well means he’s earned this opportunity across both formats.”
