SCOTTISH CRICKET MOURNS DAVID POTTER

Cricket Scotland extends its condolences to the family and friends of our former colleague David Potter, a hugely respected former umpire, administrator and photographer, who recently passed away.

David, a former club treasurer of Strathmore CC, was perhaps best known within our game as a long-standing member of the league umpires panel. He stood in a Scottish Cup Final and in 1997, officiated at the Grange in front of a sold out crowd as Scotland took on Australia.

Following the conclusion of his umpiring career, David worked for Cricket Scotland, including being secretary of the newly formed National League. In later years he attended matches across the country with camera in hand, photographing hundreds of fixtures and thousands of players of all ages and abilities.

A moment's reflection to pay tribute to David and his contributions to Scottish cricket will be held ahead of today's game between Scotland and Netherlands at Clydesdale.
