BOB MCFARLANE RECOGNISED FOR SERVICES TO CRICKET

One of the great servants of SPCU and Scottish cricket is in line for public recognition, after being announced as a finalist at the Perth and Kinross Sports Awards.

Bob McFarlane, a stalwart of Rossie Priory CC for more than 60 years and a past President of Cricket Scotland, is on the shortlist to receive the George Mortimer Service to Sport Award. The former President of SPCU was a member of the region's management committee for nearly 20 years, before stepping down in 2020.

Bob is also an Honorary Life Member of the CSMOA, for whom he was appointed the inaugural Chair upon its creation, and scored 15,000 runs including eight centuries during his career as well as nurturing and coaching many juniors to a senior level. He's played a crucial role in maintaining the ground at Rossie Priory for many years, cutting the outfield and surrounding areas of the ground twice a week.
