TRIBUTES PAID TO FORMER SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL BILL DOW

Cricket Scotland is saddened to learn of the passing of former Scotland international Bill Dow at the age of 92.

Bill was Scotland's second oldest capped player, playing 17 times for his country between 1956 and 1967. His most notable performance was against Ireland in 1965, when he took six wickets in the Irish first innings and five in the second innings as Ireland were bowled out for 25, until recently the lowest ever total against Scotland.

During a long and distinguished career, Bill played for several Scottish clubs, as well as 16 matches in the English Minor Counties Championship for Cumberland and for Essex 2nd XI.

Cricket Scotland extends its condolences and best wishes to Bill's family, friends and former teammates. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday 27 July at Glasgow (Maryhill) Crematorium from 1030, followed by Glasgow Golf Club, with a request for attendees to wear club or bright ties.
