NEW SUPER 1s HUB TO OPEN IN ABERDEEN

Cricket Scotland, in partnership with Lord's Taverners, is delighted to announce the launch of a new Super 1s disability cricket hub in Aberdeen.

 

The programme, which will be based at Aberdeen Lads Club is the fifth Super 1s hub to launch in Scotland. The governing body has committed to having hubs in 12 communities by 2028, in line with our strategic priority to embed a culture of equality throughout the game, and provide opportunities for all.

The Super 1s hubs are run in partnership with Lord's Taverners, and give young people with a disability the chance to play regular competitive cricket while improving confidence and independence.

 

Connor Brian, Cricket Scotland Disability Development Officer, said:

 

"We're delighted to announce the launch of this new Aberdeen hub, as we continue to develop opportunities in cricket for children and young people with a disability. This new hub adds to those we have already running in Edinburgh, Dundee and Angus, and Glasgow.

 

"The goal is for every participant to get involved with their peers and have the chance to learn new skills, play cricket and most importantly have fun! It's also about learning life skills and form part of a community that they can thrive in and be confident in to take part in sport.

 

"Going forward we are keen to develop the Super 1s programme even further, with plans for a hub in Perth in the near future. We want to use our SEND programme to access as many schools as possible around these hubs, and allow participants to engage with our sport and understand that there are places they can go to find a pathway within cricket across the country."
