SCHOOLS WEEK OF CRICKET ENJOYS EXPANDED DISABILITY PROGRAMME

This year's Schools Week of Cricket Disability programme saw multiple events held across the country for the first time, marking significant growth for the event.

 

The 2026 event saw the programme grow from two events, in Perth and Inverness, featuring four schools, to four festivals featuring 20 schools.

 

This continues the growth seen in our other disability offerings, such as our table cricket programme, with our regional festivals engaging 25 schools earlier this year, up from seven in 2025.

 

Connor Brian, Cricket Scotland Disability Cricket Development Officer, said: 

 

"Our Schools Week of Cricket Disability Cricket Festivals continued a busy year of ASN (additional support needs) cricket delivery in schools across Scotland.

 

"Our four festivals that were held were enjoyed by over 165 participants from 20 schools in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

 

 

"We are delighted to see the growth in our term-time delivery reflected in the participation numbers at both our table cricket and softball cricket festivals held across the year, and we remain committed to continuing to grow our reach and offering across the country, and show how inclusive, accessible and fun our sport is.

 

"Thank you to all the participants, teachers, staff and local authority partners for their hard work and commitment to accessible sport - we look forward to continuing to work with you!"
