GRANGE READY TO REPRESENT SCOTLAND ON EUROPEAN STAGE

GRANGE READY TO REPRESENT SCOTLAND ON EUROPEAN STAGE

Grange will be heading to Spain this weekend to compete in the European Cricket League as Scotland’s representative.

Their Men’s T20 Scottish Cup victory in 2024 earned their place at the event, where they will face teams from Malta, Norway, Denmark and Bulgaria in the 'Champions League of European Cricket'.

Current Scotland internationals Jack Jarvis and Chris Greaves are both part of the Grange squad heading over to Malaga, with the former having previous experience of T10 cricket at the Cartama Oval.

Jack Jarvis said: “I was out there two years ago with the Scotland A team; we managed to qualify for the Championship Week and I had a great experience out there.

“I’ve played a bit of T10 cricket now, and with the pace of the game, it’s a format that puts you under massive pressure every ball.

"You have to be trying to hit every ball for six, and conversely, when you’re bowling, the batters are trying to hit every ball you bowl for six, so you’ve got to be really good with your skills, and clear with your plans.

“It will definitely be a different challenge, because a lot of the club cricket we play in Scotland is very familiar, we play with and against the same people, and you know the opposition really well.

“But with this there’s the added element that we won’t have any idea about the opposition, about what their strengths are, so it will be good to play against some different opponents in a different format, and put our skills to the test.”

Last year, it was Forfarshire who represented Scotland in the ECL, reaching Championship Week after winning their group – and it was Forfarshire who Grange beat in the semi-finals last August on their way to the T20 Scottish Cup title.

“It’s really exciting to be representing Grange and representing Scotland,” continued Jarvis.

“For us to have won the T20 Scottish Cup last year was brilliant, and it’s great recognition for all the work the boys have put in.

“We’re taking quite a young group, and we’re looking forward to showing what we can do on the international stage.”
