SCOTLAND SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT AT HOME TO BANGLADESH
Scotland lost for the first time in the Heriot-Watt University Women's T20 International Tri-Series as they fell to a 34-run reversal to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh had suffered back-to-back defeats to open the series, but bounced back in style as they comfortably defeated the Scots in Edinburgh.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted 152-6, with their captain Nigar Sultana Joty once again the linchpin, as she followed up scores of 46* and 77 with a 47-ball 58.
Scotland struck three times in the powerplay as Kathryn Bryce removed Dilara Akter (15) and Taj Nehar (4), and Kirstie Gordon dismissed Juairiya Ferdous - to reduce Bangladesh 23-3.
But Joty added 77 with Sobhana Mostary (39) and 45 with Shorna Akter (20) to guide her side to a competitive total - despite two wickets from debutant Maisie Maceira at the death.
In response, Scotland lost openers Katherine Fraser (0) and Darcey Carter (1) inside the opening two overs - and in truth never recovered from that early blow.
Sarah Bryce held the innings together with a fine 40, in the process becoming the third Scottish woman to 3000 Scotland runs - but when she fell to Ritu Moni, the Scots were 86-5, with the asking rate climbing above 10 an over.
Moni finished with figures of 4-12 as she dismantled the lower order, with Scotland bowled out for 118.
Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce said: "I think we did well to take early wickets in the powerplay, but then I think we were probably a little bit sloppy with our fielding, and could have executed a bit more consistently with the ball.
"We didn't get off to as a good a start with the bat as we did the rest of the week, and that put a little bit of pressure on ourselves coming through, but it was good for everyone to get a hit out there, and take some learnings into tomorrow."
Scotland are back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they face Netherlands in their final game of the series.
