OVER 1000 PARTICIPANTS TAKE PART IN 2025 SCHOOLS' COMPETITIONS

Over 1000 participants took part in our Schools Week of Cricket softball competitions and our hardball Inspiresport Schools Cup this year.

35 schools took part across three days of action at Perth's North Inch, across our disability, primary and secondary school events - which included 28 girls' teams, and 31 boys' teams.

Fraser Reynolds, National Development Manager, said: "It was a phenomenal week in Perth for our Schools Week of Cricket events, and it was great to see so many young people having fun and enjoying their cricket.

"We had a number of representatives from our Men's and Women's National Teams attending across the week, and it was fantastic to see them engaging with the participants, signing hundreds of autographs, and helping to inspire the next generation.

"Since COVID, the competitions have continued to grow every year, and it was pleasing to see schools attending for the first time, and schools returning who maybe haven't attended for a few years.

"It's a testament to the work of clubs, teachers, coaches and volunteers across Scotland, who give their time to develop cricket in schools, and provide opportunities for young people to pick up a bat and ball for the first time.

"Hopefully with the success of our teacher training CPD programme this year, we will continue to see the growth of these competitions, and have more schools involved in future years."

The Inspiresport Scottish Schools Cups saw 56 teams competing across four different hardball tournaments for boys and girls at the U15 and U18 year groups.

The knockout competitions, which have been taking place throughout the summer, came to a conclusion on Wednesday, with the weather-delayed Boys' Under 18s final.

Both Girls' competitions were won by Fettes College, whilst Edinburgh Academy won the Boys' Under 15s event, and Merchiston Castle triumphed in the Boys' Under 18s.
