SCOTLAND FALL TO NETHERLANDS IN FIRST LOSS OF EMERGING NATIONS TROPHY
Scotland suffered their first defeat in the Emerging Nations Trophy, as they slid to a 27-run defeat to the Netherlands.
Thailand's defeat earlier today meant that a win would have secured the Emerging Nations Trophy title - but it will now go down to the final day, with Thailand, the Netherlands and the UAE all just two points behind Scotland.
Scotland Captain Sarah Bryce said: "The Dutch played really well, and we were probably not at our best today.
"They batted pretty well, they put partnerships together and unfortunately we weren't able to control the game as we'd like and break those partnerships, so there's a lot to learn from, and it's great to have those games."
"We're really looking forward to Sunday now, these games are what you play for, these tough situations, and it should be really exciting."
Batting first, the Netherlands posted 148-7, their top order all making important contributions despite losing Iris Zwilling (0) to Rachel Slater in the first over.
Phebe Molkenboer (32), Babette De Leede (15) and Robine Rijke (27) helped the Netherlands build a platform to post an imposing total, but it was Sterre Kalis who lifted her side to 148, striking a superb unbeaten 55.
Rachel Slater (3-22) and Priyanaz Chatterji (2-18) helped Scotland fight back at the death, but the damage had been done in the middle period - the Netherlands adding 96 in the 12 overs after Kalis came to the crease.
In response, Scotland suffered a nightmare start as Darcey Carter (4) fell in the opening over - but Katherine Fraser, promoted to open in the absence of Ailsa Lister, and Sarah Bryce had Scotland on track in their pursuit of 149.
The pair added 68 for the second wicket - Fraser impressive as she found the boundary seven times in her 32-ball 39, but her departure to the final ball of the 10th over would prove to be the turning point.
Bryce (31) fell two overs later, bowled by Caroline de Lange, and Scotland were never quite able to recover, adding just 49 for six in the second half of their innings to finish on 121-8.
