FORMER INTERNATIONAL AND SCU PRESIDENT DAVID HAYS PASSES AWAY

Cricket Scotland is saddened to learn of the death this week of former Scotland international and Scottish Cricket Union President David Hays, at the age of 80.

Born in London, David Hays was a member of the Finchley club and played seven games for Middlesex 2nd XI after being a regular in the Cambridge University side. He achieved the rare feat of playing against Scotland for both Cambridge University & MCC, as well as being capped three times for Scotland.

When his career in the oil industry took him to Aberdeen, where he was to spend the rest of his life, David joined Aberdeenshire CC, going on to become President of the club. He was appointed President of the Scottish Cricket Union in 1996, and thereafter was involved for some time thereafter in the operations of the SCU.
