SCOTS HEAD TO ZIMBABWE FOR TRAINING CAMP
Scotland's men's squad will travel to Zimbabwe for a training camp in April, as they build up to a huge summer of international cricket.
The squad will head to Harare on 13 April, and the camp will include a series of practice matches against the Zimbabwe Academy and Zimbabwe 'A'.
Head Coach Doug Watson will lead the group, and will be joined by Craig Wright, Moneeb Iqbal (Assistant Coaches) and Gary Metcalfe (Physio).
Steve Snell, Cricket Scotland Head of Performance, said:
“The men’s fixture list is extremely busy across this summer, and given the squad’s lack of cricket since the USA series at the end of last year, it was imperative to get ourselves some 50-over match practice in the build-up to our ICC CWCL2 series in May in the Netherlands and then in June at home.
“I’m grateful to Zimbabwe Cricket for the organisation and flexibility they’ve shown in providing us with the facilities in Harare and the opportunity to play against Zimbabwe 'A'.
“The squad sits well placed in ICC CWCL2, but we know the upcoming series represent a huge opportunity for us to enhance our qualification chances for the ICC World Cup in 2027.
“Given other competing commitments, the squad we’ve selected represents a good blend of youth and experience which will enable us to prepare for the upcoming fixtures, but will also help to further develop some players at the start of their international careers.”
