WEATHER PREVENTS PLAY BETWEEN SCOTLAND AND UAE

Persistent rain washed out the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 series between Scotland and UAE.

After a sunny weekend on Tayside, the weather turned overnight and the covers were never removed on Monday as a constant drizzle fell on Forfarshire CC.

At 3.45pm, a decision was made by the match officials to abandon play for the day, meaning Scotland and UAE pick up one point apiece. Scotland have now had seven matches in the 38 match series abandoned due to weather or conditions being unfit for play, more than any other team.

Scotland move back into second place in the ICC CWCL2 table, one point ahead of Netherlands. The second match in the series takes place on Wednesday, when UAE face Canada, with Scotland's next fixture scheduled for Friday against Canada.
