SCOTS READY FOR FINAL CWCL2 PUSH
Scotland Men aim to end the year on a high on Monday when they face Nepal in the final match of the current ICC CWCL2 series in Dallas.
The Scots have won two out of three matches on this tour, beating USA twice, and are now determined to avenge last Tuesday's defeat to Nepal in their final competitive outing of 2024.
Brandon McMullen was the star of the show in Thursday's 71-run victory over USA, smashing a career-best 151, and believes that confidence is now flowing through the squad.
"From a personal point of view it was really awesome to pass 150, it's the first time I’ve done so, and to do it for Scotland and this team was extra special, so it was a very proud moment," said McMullen.
"I definitely had a lot of fun out there. It was hard graft to begin with, but the longer I spent at the crease the easier it became and it then allowed me to settle in and play my way and take it deep.
"I had a good partnership with Teary in which I thought he batted superbly, and then the way Richie, Jonesy and Leasky came in all being super-proactive and positive took a lot of the pressure off myself to get a good score on the board to defend.
"I felt it was a solid score at the halfway point, and the wicket did get pretty flat in the second innings so we had to dig deep with the ball and be super patient and look to keep our discipline. Brad Wheal was very good keeping the pressure on, and although not taking any wickets he played a vital role in helping us defend the total.
"I thought Jack Jarvis was outstanding with the ball, the character he showed doing the hard yards in the middle overs to keep us ahead of the game was crucial and him finishing off with career-best figures was just an added bonus, so we're all very happy for him.
"Against Nepal, it's clear that being the fastest team to adapt to the conditions in front of us will be the key to winning the game. We need to keep our disciplines with bat and ball and in the field, but we can take a lot of confidence as a group from the games we’ve played so far as there are lots of positives. We just need to keep raising the bar from game to game and the results will take care of themselves."
