AZHAR ALI LINKS UP WITH SCOTLAND FOR NEPAL TOUR

Azhar Ali has joined the Scotland Men’s backroom team in a consultancy role for the tour of Nepal. 

 

The Scots play their hosts and USA during the forthcoming ICC CWCL2 series and Owen Dawkins' squad will now receive support from the former Pakistan captain, who played 97 Test matches and 53 ODIs for his country between 2010 and 2022.

 

Azhar also holds deep personal ties to Scotland, as at the start of his career he spent six seasons as professional with Huntly Cricket Club in Aberdeenshire.

 

Steve Snell, Cricket Scotland Head of Performance, said:

 

“We’re always looking at ways to improve the support environment within our squads, and to have someone of Azhar’s calibre and experience of playing in Asia available to us for a short time is really exciting for everyone involved.

 

“He’s obviously attained a huge amount of international experience at the top level, and he’ll provide a different voice and squad dynamic for us during this important tour.
