AUSTRALIA SEAL SERIES SWEEP WITH SIX-WICKET WIN
Australia ensured they leave Edinburgh with an unblemished record, winning the final match of the series by six wickets to secure a 3-0 sweep.
Brandon McMullen starred with the bat once again for Scotland, striking his second consecutive half-century to help his side post 149-9, a total the visitors chased down with relative ease inside 17 overs.
Cam Green was the star of the show with bat and ball for Australia, taking 3-35 to restrict Scotland to below 150, before blasting an unbeaten 39-ball 62 to guide his nation to a comfortable victory.
For Scotland, it was a similar story to the first two matches, with a number of players getting starts, but no one was able to take the innings deep alongside McMullen, who now has three 50s in four innings against Australia this year.
Oli Hairs and George Munsey both cleared the ropes early on, but Hairs would fall for 12 in the third over, bowled by Aaron Hardie as he looked to take the aggressive option.
Munsey would reach 25 but, in similar fashion to the first two games, departed just as he was clicking into top gear, guiding a short ball from Green straight to Travis Head at short third man.
McMullen would be the mainstay of the Scotland innings, looking particularly dominant against the spin of Cooper Connolly and Adam Zampa, striking both over the ropes.
Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross and Michael Leask would all make starts before falling, whilst McMullen would reach his half-century from just 32 deliveries.
It would take a spectacular one-handed grab from Head, off the bowling of Stoinis, to remove McMullen, and leave Scotland 138-6 in the 17th over.
That wicket proved to be crucial as Australia stifled Scotland at the death, the hosts only being able to add 11 for the loss of three wickets in the final 20 deliveries as they finished on 149-9.
Just like in the opening game of the series, it looked a total below par against a destructive Australian top order, but Brad Currie would give Scotland hope with a pair of early wickets.
The left-armer would remove Jake Fraser-McGurk without scoring, McMullen taking a stunning grab low down at backward point, before he did for Head for the second consecutive game, the Australian opener skying an attempted to drive to Munsey at mid-on.
Mitch Marsh and Green would re-establish a sense of calm for Australia, adding 61 in 35 deliveries for the third wicket before the Australia skipper was bowled by Jack Jarvis.
Tim David would ensure there was no wobble, striking 25 from 14, alongside Green, taking Australia within 20 of the target before he miscued a Chris Sole delivery to Jarvis on the leg-side boundary.
It would be left to Aaron Hardie to finish the game, striking Sole away for four, finishing unbeaten on 11 alongside Player of the Match Green (62*).
