JASPER DAVIDSON PROUD TO REPRESENT MCC ON HISTORIC TOUR

Scotland's Jasper Davidson enjoyed a successful tour of Zimbabwe with the MCC, as the club toured the country for the first time in the modern era.

 

The MCC played three games against the Mid West Rhinos - one of the six domestic first-class teams in Zimbabwe - and three games against a Zimbabwe Academy side, either side of a three-day fixture against Zimbabwe 'A'.

 

Davidson made his first-class debut on the trip, as the MCC played a first-class fixture for the first time six years.

 

Davidson said: "It was a privilege to represent the MCC in Zimbabwe, and I thought the tour as a whole was very successful - both personally and collectively.

 

"To be able to make my first-class debut was an incredibly proud moment - it's something that most cricketers want to achieve during their career, and to be able to make a positive contribution, taking four wickets and adding 41 with the bat, was brilliant.

 

 

"The whole tour was a great opportunity to develop my game. Leading the attack with the red ball in different conditions was a challenge, but one I really enjoyed and getting that experience is invaluable. It was great to work with Owen Dawkins again as well, who was the manager for the tour - I have worked a bit with him before, and his knowledge and advice is always valuable.

 

"Playing more red ball cricket is definitely something I'd want to do more of going forward - we don't get to experience it in Scotland, but it was a challenge I really enjoyed, and would love to experience more of."

 

 

"It was also great to experience Zimbabwe off the field - the MCC organised some great activities, and we spent two days at Antelope Park where we had a proper safari experience, which was really cool."

 

With Scotland next in ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 action in March, the right-arm quick will be heading overseas to prepare for 2026.

 

"My plan for the winter is to head out to Dubai for a couple weeks for cricket before Christmas which I’m excited for, and then in January I'm heading back over to Adelaide for a couple of months to get some cricket under my belt in preparation for another big season back home."
