VICTORY FOR ALL THREE SIDES AS MEN'S REGIONAL SERIES RETURNS

VICTORY FOR ALL THREE SIDES AS MEN'S REGIONAL SERIES RETURNS

All three regional sides experienced success on the opening day of the Men's Regional Super Series at Forfarshire CC.

In the opening game, the Eastern Knights were victorious in a rain-affected clash with the Caledonian Highlanders, who had posted 195-5 batting first.

Olly Davidson (61 from 52) and Sriram Muramalla (60* from 30) fired the Highlanders to an imposing total, before in reply the Knights raced to 55-1 from 5.2 overs to get ahead of the DLS par - Oli Hairs blasting an unbeaten 37 from 21 - when the rain came down and curtailed the action.

The Knights failed to build on that victory when they faced the Western Warriors in game two, slipping to a four wicket defeat in a low-scoring affair.

The Warriors restricted the Eastern Knights to just 133-8, Isaac Rahman impressing with 4-20, whilst Scotland international Zainullah Ihsan also struck twice (2-8).

Brandon McMullen led the Warriors' reply with a 35-ball 42, as they reached their target inside 18 overs.

In the final game of the day, the Highlanders' Callum Garden blasted a stunning 56-ball 102 to help fire his side to a 48-run victory over the Western Warriors.

Garden's knock included 14 fours and four sixes, and he was ably supported by Michael Leask (68 from 47) as the Highlanders posted exactly the same total as they did earlier in the day - 195-5.

This time there was no rain involved in their defence, as they bowled the Warriors out for 147 - despite McMullen blazing a 17-ball 44 - with Lyle Robertson the pick of the bowlers (3-14).

The Men's Regional Super Series continues on Sunday 14 June, with another T20 triple-header at Dunfermline & Carnegie CC.
