KATHRYN BRYCE NAMED PLAYER OF TOURNAMENT AT WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce has been deservedly rewarded for her achievements at the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan by being named Player of the Tournament.

 

Bryce ended the competition as the highest scorer with 293 runs from five innings, the highlight of which an astonishing 131 not out against Ireland on Friday - the highest ever score by a Scotland Women's player.

 

She also took six wickets with the ball, including 3-49 in the same game, which ended in heartbreak as Ireland won by 1 wicket off the final ball of an enthralling ODI, to end Scotland's hopes of qualification.

 

Kathryn said:

 

"I think it's been a fantastic tournament for us as a whole. To win a couple of games, to cause an upset or two, and also to come really close in the other fixtures, has been just incredible.

 

"I think the growth of our team over these five matches has been excellent. It just shows that with us having more opportunities to play ODI cricket against high quality teams, we can learn so much and take big strides forward, so it's exciting to think how far this team could go."

 

Scotland finished fourth in the six-team qualifier, as Pakistan and Bangladesh were confirmed on Saturday as the two qualifying sides for the ICC Women's World Cup, which takes place in India later this year.
