WEATHER FRUSTRATES SCOTLAND AS NEPAL GAME ABANDONED

Scotland Men's tour of the USA ended in frustration, as their final game against Nepal was abandoned due to adverse weather conditions in Dallas.

 

A tornado warning in place for Monday in the Grand Prairie area meant that a completed game always looked doubtful, and that came to pass with only six overs possible.

 

The action did get underway on time, with the floodlights on, Scotland having elected to bowl in helpful conditions, but just one Brad Currie over was possible before rain forced the players from the field.

 

After a two-hour delay, play eventually resumed, now as a 43-over game, although the overhead conditions remained dark and dreich.

 

Following the resumption, Currie struck in his third over to remove Anil Sah (10), getting a delivery to nip back and trap the USA opener on his back pad.

 

 

Just one more over was possible, safely negotiated by Aasif Sheikh (9*) and Kushal Bhurtel (0*), before lightning in the vicinity of Grand Prairie Stadium forced a stoppage in play once again.

 

That interruption ultimately proved terminal, with the umpires calling the game off at 1.50pm local time.

 

Scotland end the latest round of ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 action third in the table, having now lost just one of their last eight fixtures.
