HERIOT'S WIN MEN'S T20 SCOTTISH CUP

Heriot's defeated Clydesdale by seven wickets to lift the Men's T20 Scottish Cup - and become the holders of all five trophies available to them.

 

Heriot's restricted Clydesdale to just 113-9 in the final, Adrian Neill taking 3-24, whilst Gavin Main, James Dickinson and Mark Watt all took two wickets apiece - and chased that target down inside 15 overs, as Watt (44) and Matthew Cross (37) led their side to their target.

 

That means Heriot's now hold the Men's Scottish Cup, Men's Grand Final and Eastern Premier League from 2024 - and add this year's Masterton Trophy, and now the Men's T20 Scottish Cup, to that haul.

 

Lloyd Brown said: "It was a great performance today, I think in the first game Grange were 37-0 after three overs, so to bring that back, the guys dug in brilliantly.

 

"And then the final was a great performance. What was really good to see today was, we've got a quick bowling lineup that's done really well for us this season, but the spinners really stepped up, they were class today across both games.

 

"As we stand we hold all five trophies at the moment, we've still got a couple more to tick off and hold on to, so we're really looking forward to the next month now and finishing the season really well."

 

 

Earlier, Heriot's had defeated Edinburgh rivals Grange to reach the final - bowling the holders out for 108, and reaching their target in 16 overs for the loss of four wickets, as skipper Brown led the way with 47.

 

The game of the day came in the other semi-final, as Clydesdale completed a thrilling run chase in the final over to defeat Forfarshire.

 

Callum Garden struck an outstanding 46-ball 78 to help Forfarshire post 175-4 - a score that looked like being more than enough when Clydesdale slid to 25-2 in response.

 

But Richie Berrington hit 74 from 41 deliveries, before Adil Ghaffar (47*) and Kallum Dhami (25*) took their side over the line with two balls remaining - the pair adding 60 from 31 deliveries to seal a remarkable win.
