SCOTLAND UNDER 19s ENJOY SUCCESSFUL WEEK AT MILLFIELD

Scotland Men's Under 19s preparations for this summer's ICC World Cup Qualifier has ramped up with a week-long training camp at Millfield School.

 

The trip to Somerset, made possible by the support of Sterling Trucks, saw the squad have three days of working outside on skills and physical preparation, before rounding out the week with a pair of matches against Millfield School.

 

Keegan Russell, Scotland Men's Under 19s Head Coach, said:

 

"In terms of getting prep time before the qualifier the week at Millfield was invaluable. Our main focus was on getting some general volume in outside, as this was the first time a lot of the lads have been able to do so. For the bowlers being able to out on the grass with a full run-up, and for the batters to get used to the pace and bounce outdoors, is so important.

 

“This was our first time together as a whole group, so it was a great opportunity to connect, establish the culture that we want the team to have, and set out a roadmap for the year ahead leading into that qualifier.

 

 

“We also really dived into the tactical side of things, getting lads thinking a little bit further about the game, and having the games on the final day against a strong Millfield team was priceless in having the ability to put their learnings into action.

 

“I can’t overstate how important the week has been in terms of preparing for the qualifier, so we're really grateful to Sterling Trucks for enabling us to make this happen.

 

"There are lots of positive to take from the week, I feel we’ve got a strong direction and that we've gelled really well as a group, and now the boys are fizzing for the rest of the summer.”
