NEW DOMESTIC CRICKET COMMITTEE APPOINTED

Cricket Scotland is pleased to announce the formal appointment of the first seven members of its newly established Domestic Cricket Committee, following a recent recruitment process. 

 

The formalisation of the Committee, which will report into the Cricket Scotland Board via its Chair, is a significant step forward in strengthening the structure and governance of the domestic game across Scotland. It reflects Cricket Scotland’s ongoing commitment to improving transparency, regional representation, and stakeholder engagement within Scottish cricket.

 

The Committee will play a central role in guiding domestic strategy, ensuring alignment with Cricket Scotland’s wider objectives, and supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of the sport at all levels. The seven appointed members bring a broad range of experience and expertise from across the Scottish cricket community.

 

• • Callum Glasgow – SPCU President and Committee member; Freuchie Cricket Club.
  • Kashif Hussain – Former ESCA President; Edinburgh Cricket Club.
  • Bob Irvine – President, Carlton Cricket Club.
  • Steve Paige – CEO of Triathlon Scotland; coaching tutor, mentor and assessor for Cricket Scotland.
  • Vishal Shah – Stewart's Melville Cricket Club; member of the CSMOA umpiring panel.
  • Peter Thomson – Founder and Treasurer, Kirk Brae Cricket Club.
  • Phil Yelland – President, Murrayfield DAFS Cricket Club.

 

The committee will be tasked with advising on key domestic matters including league structures, competition formats, player pathways, and club development. Members will serve as vital conduits between the national governing body and the regional game, ensuring that diverse voices from across the Scottish cricketing landscape are heard and considered.

The Domestic Cricket Committee will help ensure decisions are shaped by those who understand the needs and aspirations of the game at grassroots and club level. It should be noted that the Committee is actively considering further appointments; in particular, the Committee are keen to encourage more female applicants from across Scottish cricket, as it seeks to support Cricket Scotland’s strategic priority to grow and develop Women and Girls’ cricket.
