SUPER SCOTS EYE UP MORE HISTORY IN MALAYSIA

Scotland's Women U19 squad are eying up another slice of history at the ICC U19 Women's World Cup, ahead of two matches against powerhouses of world cricket in the Super Six.

 

The Scots finished third in Group D following their thrilling win over Nepal on Monday, becoming the first Scotland pathway squad to qualify for this stage. They now face a huge challenge firstly against Sri Lanka (Sunday 0230 GMT) and then India (Tuesday 0630 BST).

 

Scotland start Super Six Group 1 without any points carried forward from the opening group stage, but they know a positive result against Sri Lanka would keep alive hopes of a place in the semi-finals.

 

Pippa Sproul, Scotland's top run-scorer with 81 runs from three matches so far, said:

 

"We're really excited to have qualified for the Super Six stage and we're looking forward to taking on Sri Lanka and India. Both matches will be really tough challenges, but I think we've just got better and better since the start of the tournament. There's been lots of challenges that we've faced, but we're looking to retain the same principles that have got us to this stage, and most importantly keep enjoying ourselves in each game."

 

 

Gabriella Fontenla said:

 

"We can't wait for the Super Six stage, and having played India already in one of out warmup matches, I think we feel particularly prepared for that game. It's taken a while to get used to the differences in surfaces and pitch conditions here in Malaysia, but we feel we're part of this tournament and we're really excited about what lies ahead in the next few days."
