REGIONAL FESTIVALS CONTINUE GROWTH OF TABLE CRICKET

Regional Table Cricket Festivals held around Scotland this winter have seen this accessible and inclusive format of cricket continue its growth across the country.

 

Festivals have been held in the Forth Valley, Glasgow, Inverness and Perth, leading up to the Cricket Scotland National Table Cricket Festival in Dundee on Friday 27 March.

 

Connor Brian, Cricket Scotland’s Disability Cricket Development Officer, said:

 

"It's been fantastic to be able to take Table Cricket across Scotland this year, and continue the growth of the game - in line with Cricket Scotland's goal of embedding equality throughout our game.

 

"Our National Festival in 2025 saw 60 children from eight schools take part, and this year we have already had 173 participants across our four regional festivals. We always wanted to grow from last year's event, and remove the barrier that travel can impose on participating in this brilliant form of the sport.

 

 

"These events couldn't happen without the help of the local community partners in each area, and their commitment to supporting table cricket has been fantastic. We're already looking at continuing to grow next year into more areas, and within the areas we are already in - it's been great to see the increase in interest and engagement from schools across Scotland."

 

Last year's National Table Cricket Festival saw Crieff High School emerge victorious, which earned them the opportunity to travel to London and compete in the Lord's Taverners Table Cricket Finals at Lord's, the Home of Cricket.

 

Brian continued: "We've already seen the legacy of Crieff winning last year, and having the opportunity to travel to Lord's - with other schools seeing the benefits and impact that table cricket can have. Last year we had two schools from Perth come up to Dundee, and this year we had six schools from the area competing in our regional festival, in partnership with Live Active."
