WATSONIAN/DUMFRIES WIN WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE

Watsonian/Dumfries secured their first-ever Women's Premier League title with a six-wicket win over East Kilbride at Craiglockhart.

 

The win capped a remarkable league campaign for the club, winning all eight of their games to end with a 100% record, and deliver their first title in dominant fashion.

 

Megan McColl, Watsonian/Dumfries Captain, said: "It's really cool for the girls to get their first league win, it's amazing.

 

"The club's done a lot over the years to build a women's section, and finally to get a bit of reward, I think is really cool, so the girls are really happy about today.

 

 

"We've all managed to contribute in different ways, it's not just been one person winning the games - everyone's chipped in with the bat, everyone's chipped in with the ball and taken wickets, and we've been a team rather than individuals playing together.

 

"There's just so many good juniors coming through, it's so exciting, and it just shows how much the women's game is growing and how many more people we have playing cricket."
